Gav had some seriously large tonsils! His adenoids turned out to be rather large too. We have had some sleep apnea troubles with Gav and after three consultations, and a suggestion from the dentist, we decided the tonsils had to go. He was very brave about the whole thing. He even told me the night before that Jesus and uncle Eric would help in feel better, and fell asleep with scriptures in his arms.
At the hospital, he was easily entertained while we waited and happily drove a little car behind the anesthesiologist smiling as he went off to surgery, not requiring the optional special sleepy stuff they give to some kids. When he woke up he did great until he tried to talk. That was a bit traumatizing. He was afraid he wasn't going to be able to talk anymore. It was heartbreaking to see him so upset. Once I got him to eat some root beer slush, he excitedly said "mommy, my voice is back!"
After the surgery, we had to wait for four hours before we could go home, to make sure Gav's breathing and everything was all right. Can you tell it was a long four hours? Make that a LONG day! Good thing for the Disney channel and a good book!
His Buzz Lightyear monitor and iv...
Enjoying his diet of endless slushies and jello with whipping cream!
We have had a rough week or so of recovering and struggles to take his medicine but he is doing great and his snoring has improved 100 percent already! We are so blessed to have our sweet Gavin in our lives and grateful for Priesthood blessings. I know we wouldn't have survived without them! Yay for peaceful breathing at night!!!
